This is a strange deal...it must be about money, because Wilkerson is mediocre (and Texas already has a great 1B). So you naturally think...'well, the deal must be for Sledge, right?'

Well, I remember that Sledge was supposed to be a hotshot new player coming into the 2005 season, and he had a poor year. The hype was based on the power he showed in 2004 (about 15 homers in about 350 at-bats).

Here is the kicker; Sledge was one of the first guys to get busted under the "Steroid" testing in 2003.

Me thinks that Mr Sledge's numbers may be dwindling for years to come, with even stricter testing now.

What was Texas thinking here? More importantly, from a Cubs perspective; couldn't Hendry have offered something better than Wilkerson/Sledge and gotten a marquee 2B?!?!?!

Some things I will never know, and some things I probably was never meant to know...if I know anything, I at least know that. If you understood what the heck I just said, then maybe you can explain to me how this trade makes sense.
